How the micronational community has been responding to Russia's invasion of Ukraine

Detailed map as of March 8th

When Russia invaded Ukraine many micronations and micronationalists were very concerned and opposed to Putin's invasion. Many micronations have issued statements opposing the invasion and a few have supported it. In the MicroWiki Community the majority of nations have opposed the invasion of Ukraine.

Many micronationalists even denounced Russia's aggressive actions before the invasion occurred. A declaration was signed by many prominent micronationalists such as Dhrubajyoti Roy, James Murray, and Sander Koff. The petition did not specifically condemn the aggressive actions towards Ukraine but the aggressive actions towards all of Eastern Europe and Central Asia.

Several micronations made statements condemning Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Others donated money to humanitarian relief funds for Ukraine. Others went as far as sanctioning the Russian banks. A few micronationalists also took neutral stances on the conflict and didn't support either government one user stated "My only loyalty as I have stated before is to the people suffering in this conflict. I don't care for the Russian or Ukrainian governments, and I will criticize them at my leisure." Some not making statements at all. One micronation, Vishwamitra ended up suspending their recognition of Russia altogether.

There has been a community wide debate on if micronations should even make condemnations of macronational issues. Many micronations argued that micronations should just stick to micronational issues. Some just critiqued the micronations that decided to sanction Russia or go beyond issuing just a statement and donating money to a fund.

MicroWiki@Discord established a Ukraine-conflict channel to discuss the conflict many have shared their views there.
